Innovation Project Title: Communicating Contemporary Issues in Agriculture
The course, Communicating Contemporary Issues in Agriculture, equips students with knowledge and skills to communicate about issues in agriculture and life sciences. In additional to developing an understanding of issues, students learn to communicate with stakeholders and are provided opportunities to moderate discussions on selected topics. Students interview stakeholders and experts for the production of a podcast, Contemporary Issues in Agriculture Podcast (CAP). Through the podcast, students engage in dialogue, develop active listening skills, and learn to deliver unbiased information through diverse views. The CAP will be publicly available and shared through various digital media outlets, like the CAST website and social media.
"Being part of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellows program was so inspiring. As a new faculty member, I was able to get connected to faculty from various departments in the College who were so instrumental in helping me shape my ideas. Through our interactions and experience sharing, I was challenged to think outside the box. The fellows were so supportive, which is what I needed. The program served as a think tank and helped me grow."
