Dylana Luett, a senior majoring in agricultural business with minors in animal science and entrepreneurial studies, grew up immersed in the agricultural industry. 4-H played a large role, with Luett showing cattle through the program as well as completing community service projects with several 4-H clubs in her county. 

In high school, Luett knew she wanted to pursue a career in agriculture. She was drawn to Iowa State University's excellent agricultural business program and was interested in the minors and clubs offered at Iowa State. Since coming to Iowa State, Luett has stayed busy as a Cyclone, participating in a number of clubs including Block and Bridle Club, the Agricultural Business Club, ISU National Agri-Marketing Association, and the ISU Rodeo Club.

In addition to her club activities, Luett also works as a Business Development intern for Plant Patron through the Semester, Inc. internship program. The Plant Patron was created to help protect new and existing garden plants against animals and the elements. "I was on the Iowa State NAMA student marketing competition team last year, which really sparked my interest in marketing. Because of this, I kept my eye on the Semester, Inc. internships that were being offered. When I saw the Plant Patron internship, it sounded like a great opportunity to use my current skills and also learn more about the process of a startup company," explains Luett.

As a Business Development intern, Luett conducts background research on market viability of the product, writes the business plan, helps with the design of the unit, and whatever else is needed. "My favorite part of the program so far has been struggling with Adobe Illustrator to come up with logo designs, but then finally starting to understand it and being happy with the outcome," she shares. 

In addition to this internship, Luett currently works part-time for a livestock nutrition company, traveling to tradeshow and livestock shows to market their products. In the past, she has worked for a bank as a Leadership intern, which provided her with additional social media and marketing expertise.
