Madeline Fugate
Madeline Fugate, junior in agricultural business, grew up immersed in the agricultural industry on a family farm in Mahomet, Illinois. Fugate has shown livestock competitively for the past 18 years, with an emphasis on swine and cattle. "I've traveled from Niagara Falls to the Grand Canyon and all the way from the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean attending shows," affirms Fugate.
Livestock also played a significant role in her choice of college. "Livestock judging was a huge part of why I came to Iowa State University as I have been judging competitively for 12 years. The icing on the cake was the great academics as well," Fugate explains.
In addition to livestock judging, Fugate also works as a marketing specialist with Farm Story Meats and Patches O Pumpkins through the Semester, Inc. intern. In this role, Fugate has worked on a variety of projects including calling businesses, managing social media, and more. Her favorite part of the internship thus far has been delivering pumpkins to customers before Halloween.
In addition to her Semester, Inc. internship, Fugate also currently serves as an intern for The Pig Planet and is a member of various organizations on campus including Iowa State Block & Bridle Club, the Agricultural Business Club, and the Iowa State Professional Agricultural Student Organization (PAS). Last summer, she interned for her local ag radio station.
We wish Madeline the very best as she continues her internship with Farm Story Meats and Patches O Pumpkins through the end of the semester!
