Brynn Younge: A Summer in Agricultural Communications

Brynn Younge, sophomore in Agricultural Communications with a minor in Event Management, spent her summer gaining hands-on experience as a Communications Intern with LMB Consulting through the Start Something CALS summer internship program.
Working with LMB Consulting owner Lexi Marek Beeler, Brynn supported clients including the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement and CommonGround Iowa. Her responsibilities included creating and scheduling social media content, designing promotional materials, communicating with event participants and supporters, and assisting with planning and preparation for the Iowa State Fair Sale of Champions.
One of the highlights of her internship was working with the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement and helping prepare for the Sale of Champions. After spending the summer working behind the scenes, Brynn had the opportunity to work on-site at the Iowa State Fair and assist with event logistics.
“One of my favorite parts of my internship was getting to work with the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement and help prepare for the Sale of Champions,” Brynn said.
The experience helped Brynn better understand the many opportunities available in agricultural communications while developing her creative thinking, problem-solving and communication skills. It also helped shape her future career plans.
“This internship helped shape my future career plans by giving me hands-on experience in multiple areas of agricultural communications,” Brynn said. “It confirmed that I would like to pursue a career where I can combine my interests in agriculture, communications and event planning.”
